About your instructor

Scott Bryant is currently the staff photojournalist at the Statesboro (Ga.) Herald. He has over twenty-five years of experience in the news business, including ten years at the Herald and twelve at the Savannah (Ga.) Morning News.

Many photojournalists scour the globe producing work of great historic and social importance. Scott has found his niche doing community journalism by producing visual chronicles of life in Statesboro, Ga. and surrounding Bulloch County. A few of those photographs have won awards, but the ultimate goal is to help his audience remember and reflect on people, events, and issues in their community, and hopefully to create conversation and make connections with one another.

Scott has taught nine semesters of Multimedia Journalism 3333: Photojournalism at Georgia Southern University. His goals are to teach visual literacy in the contemporary media environment, to raise awareness about the process and professional standards of photojournalism, and to give students the basic knowledge and skills to communicate with still photographs and other visual mediums.
